Join the coalition in support of Utah’s Medicaid Program
We are a coalition of consumers, healthcare advocates, and organizations united in protecting Utah’s Medicaid program against harmful cuts.
Cuts don’t make health care cheaper—they just move the cost onto families, hospitals, and states.
- 7,000 jobs at risk
- Utah would lose $500 million in federal funding annually
- Uninsured rate will increase leaving hospitals with millions in uncompensated care which will raise the cost of healthcare on middle class families.
Government bureaucratic red tape will effectively become scissors, cutting off tens of thousands of Utahns from critical healthcare.
- Requiring recipients to first complete 48 job applications in order to access treatments contradicts other DHHS public health and safety priorities.
- Instead of increasing employment, work requirements penalize hospitality, seasonal, and part-time workers for not fulfilling arbitrary reporting requirements.
- Utah has one of the worst rates of recertifying eligible recipients for their benefits, and rather than address this failure, DHHS is creating cumbersome processes and our neighbors will fall through the cracks.

Utah’s Medicaid program is currently under threat at both the federal and state levels. We are currently organizing responses to:

Oppose Federal Cuts to Medicaid
As the United States Congress undertakes the budget reconciliation process, Medicaid is on the chopping block. Utah has a trigger law that will automatically sunset our Medicaid expansion if the federal match rate changes.
